Be sure to visit Gulfstream Park Friday, April 9, for the long awaited showdown between racing’s leading ladies: reigning Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, and the undefeated Zenyatta, in the $5 million Apple Blossom Invitational. When racing is closed, Gulfstream Park is still open for simulcasting, restaurants, casino, poker, electronic blackjack and roulette and more. Entertainment includes a live band every Fri.-Sun. from 4pm-9:30pm in the Jameson Jockey Club tiki bar and live music in the casino 7pm-midnight every Wed.-Sun. Free admission and self-parking. The Florida Derby is one the most important races in the nation as a feeder to the Kentucky Derby. Off-season, there is still plenty to do at Gulfstream, including dining at several fine restaurants (including the famous Christine Lee gourmet Chinese restaurant) , eBay slots, poker and live entertainment.

Jai-Alai is a version of a Basque pelota sport, which is played in a fronton. The ball used in jai-alai frequently moves at speeds upward of 160 miles per hour, causing it to sometimes be billed as the "fastest game in the world." Located near the Miami International Airport, Miami Jai-Alai is the largest and busiest fronton in the US. Besides live jai-alai action, simulcasting of other racing and parimutuel events are broadcast at Miami Jai-Alai.
